HDI Global SE and McLarens have announced leadership appointments aimed at supporting their international growth strategies and operational capabilities.
HDI Global has appointed Phil McDowell (pictured above) as global sales & distribution lead for international programmes and captives.
McDowell will be responsible for driving the development of the insurer’s global broker relationships and further advancing its international programmes (IP) and captive proposition. He will also support enhancements to HDI Global’s client and broker portal and contribute to marketing initiatives targeting both local and global audiences.
McDowell joins the firm with prior experience at RSA and Allianz and is a Chartered Insurer. He will be based in London and operate within the global IP department. HDI Global currently manages approximately 5,300 international programmes and operates in over 175 countries.
The newly created role follows a major milestone for the company, with HDI Global reporting a full-year insurance revenue of €10.0 billion for 2024, reaching double-digit billions for the first time.
In parallel, global loss adjusting and claims management firm McLarens has appointed Shoukat Ali Bhamani (pictured above, right) as chief information officer (CIO), a newly established global role.
Bhamani will join the global management team and report directly to CEO Gary Brown. He will oversee the company’s global IT strategy, focusing on ERP system development, data infrastructure improvements, and the advancement of analytics capabilities. A core part of his mandate includes reinforcing operational resilience and integrating technology to improve client outcomes.
Bhamani brings more than two decades of experience in enterprise technology and digital transformation. He has led international IT operations at companies including Luk, Schaeffler, and Serta Simmons Bedding, with responsibilities spanning ERP modernisation, business integration, and AI and analytics development.
His academic background includes an MBA from Case Western Reserve University, an MSME from McGill University, and a BSME from NED University. He has received the CIO of the Year ORBiE Award.
